A Watertown homeowner contacted Brown Roofing after noticing that the roof was beginning to fail. The shingles were breaking down with age, and the chimney had been sealed with caulk instead of real flashing. Inspector Dennis walked her through the issues and explained what a proper, long-term solution would look like. Under the direction of Project Manager Jared, the crew removed the old roofing, replaced sections of damaged tongue-and-groove decking with fresh CDX plywood, and installed a modern underlayment system. The new roof was finished with IKO Dynasty shingles in Biscayne, along with professionally installed metal chimney flashing and a new cricket to channel water away from the chimney base. We removed the old shingles on this Watertown home and replaced them with a new Owens Corning roofing system.

This roof was installed by another roofing contractor the building inspector failed this roof due to improper installation. Luckily for the homeowner no money had been paid out yet. We removed the existing roof and the underlayment wasn't installed properly either, the ice and water shield did not meet code because it was not 3 feet from the inside wall. We installed all the proper underlayment and the shingles along with three new skylights and corrected some trimwork the other contractor had done finished off with a copper chimney .

We installed rafter mates from the soffits to the ridge vent in all rafter spaces and then installed R30 insulation in each rafter space in this Prospect, CT roof.
