Ridgefield homeowners James and Lesley knew it was only a matter of time before their roof needed to be replaced. Having purchased their home eight years ago with that expectation in mind, they reached out to Brown Roofing when the signs of wear, especially heavy moss growth, became impossible to ignore.
Inspector Mike evaluated the roof and confirmed it was ready for a full replacement. After walking James and Lesley through our process and materials, they felt confident moving forward with our team.
Project Manager and his crew began by removing the old shingles and inspecting the underlying sheathing. Any damaged sections were replaced with strong half-inch CDX plywood to ensure a solid, reliable foundation. Ice and water shield was installed along the eaves and vulnerable areas, seams were sealed with all-weather deck tape, and Velora One synthetic underlayment was applied across the remaining surface for added durability.
Next, drip edge and rake metal flashing were installed to properly guide water away from the roofline and into the gutters. James and Lesley selected IKO Dynasty shingles in Glacier, a clean, modern color that brightened up the entire home.
To complete the project, two brand-new VELUX skylights were installed, replacing the old, worn units and bringing fresh natural light into the space. After final detailing and a full property cleanup, James and Lesley’s new roof is looking sharp and ready for the years ahead.
Brown Won't Let You Down!
Ridgefield homeowner Drew contacted Brown Roofing after noticing significant wear on his aging roof, including outdated three-tab shingles and temporary ridge cap repairs that were no longer holding up. Inspector Tyler visited the home, assessed the roof’s condition, and walked Drew through our installation process and material options so he could make an informed decision moving forward.
Once the project was approved, Project Manager Noel and his experienced crew got to work by removing the existing shingles and inspecting the plywood roof deck beneath. Any damaged sections were replaced with new half-inch CDX plywood to create a solid, reliable foundation. Ice and water shield was installed along the eaves, valleys, and penetrations, followed by all-weather deck tape at the seams and Velora One synthetic underlayment across the remaining surface to prepare the roof for its final system.
The chimney was also addressed during the project, as the existing flashing and surrounding masonry showed visible wear and deterioration. The crew removed the old, failing materials and completed new chimney flashing along with masonry repairs, restoring a clean, finished appearance and ensuring a watertight seal where the roof meets the chimney.
Drew selected IKO Dynasty architectural shingles in the color Biscayne, giving the home a clean, modern look. Drip edge and rake metal were installed to properly manage water flow, and a ridge vent system was added to promote healthy airflow through the attic. Ridge cap shingles were installed to complete the roof with a seamless, polished finish.
After final detailing and a complete cleanup, Drew’s roof replacement was complete, finished with a cohesive look and built to perform reliably through changing New England weather!
