New Milford homeowner William contacted Brown Roofing to replace his aging roof, which was still covered in outdated three-tab shingles that had clearly reached the end of their lifespan. Inspector Chase evaluated the roof and confirmed it was time for a full replacement, then walked William through our process and material options to ensure he felt confident moving forward.
Once the project began, the crew removed the existing roofing system and assessed the structure beneath. William’s home featured older plank decking, which no longer provided the solid foundation required for a modern roofing system. To ensure long-term performance, the crew replaced the entire decking with new CDX plywood, creating a strong, uniform base.
With the new decking in place, the roof was built out with ice and water shield along key areas, sealed seams to meet code, and Velora One synthetic underlayment across the remaining surface. Drip edge and rake metal were installed to guide water safely off the roof and protect the edges.
William selected IKO Dynasty shingles in Glacier, giving the home a clean, updated look. The system was completed with proper ventilation and detailed flashing work around all penetrations and the chimney.
In addition to the main home, the team also replaced the roof on William’s detached garage, which featured a low-slope section. This area was upgraded with a durable SBS roofing system, complete with new decking and a fully adhered base and cap layer for a smooth, watertight finish.
