Bethlehem homeowner Donald reached out to Brown Roofing after noticing leaks in multiple areas of his 20-year-old architectural shingle roof, including near a skylight, inside a bedroom closet, and around a light fixture. Knowing the roof had reached the end of its lifespan, he contacted us for a full replacement quote.
Inspector Darwin visited the home and confirmed that the roof was showing significant wear. The shingles had experienced heavy granular loss and deterioration, and the chimney flashing had clearly seen better days, with layers of old tar and corrosion that were no longer providing proper protection. After walking Donald through our process and material options, he felt confident moving forward with a full replacement.
Project Manager Carlos and his expert crew began by removing the old shingles and inspecting the underlying sheathing. Any compromised sections were replaced with durable half-inch CDX plywood to create a solid foundation for the new roofing system.
With the structure secured, the crew installed ice and water shield along the eaves and other vulnerable areas, sealed seams with all-weather deck tape, and applied Velora One synthetic underlayment across the remaining roof surface. Drip edge and rake metal were installed along the roof perimeter to ensure water would properly shed into the gutter system.
Donald selected IKO Dynasty shingles in the rich shade of Shadow Brown, giving the home a clean, updated look. A ridge vent system was installed to promote proper attic ventilation, with ridge cap shingles providing a polished finish.
One of the most important upgrades came at the chimney, where the old, tar-covered flashing was removed and replaced with clean new lead flashing. The result is a durable, properly sealed connection between the roof and chimney, finished with precise, minimal caulking for a neat and professional appearance.
After final detailing and a thorough cleanup of the property, Donald’s new roof was complete, transforming a worn, leaking system into a strong, dependable roof built to protect the home for decades to come.

Bethlehem homeowner Dan knew it was time to replace his aging wood shake roof. While cedar shake offers a classic, high-end appearance, his roof, now over 20 years old, had become heavily moss-covered and weather-worn. Inspector Austin evaluated the property and confirmed that a full roof replacement was the right move to restore both performance and appearance.
Project Manager Mike and his crew began by removing the deteriorated cedar shakes, revealing original skip sheathing beneath. This was a common construction method for older shake roofs. To modernize and reinforce the structure, new plywood was installed over the existing framing to create a solid, continuous surface for today’s architectural shingles.
Ice and water shield was applied in vulnerable areas, seams were properly taped, and Velora One synthetic underlayment was installed for comprehensive moisture management. The roof was then completed with IKO Dynasty architectural shingles in Royal Brown, providing a rich, refined look that complements the home’s surroundings.
To elevate both performance and aesthetics, copper flashing was installed along the chimney and throughout the roof valleys: a premium detail that offers long-lasting durability and a distinctive architectural touch. The crew also completed targeted siding repairs and new step flashing where the roof meets the side wall, ensuring a clean, watertight transition.

Inspector Chase arrived at the property and the homeowner showed him inside. This homeowner was experiencing leaks at the bottom edge of the roof where the windows meet. He also had a leak in the skylight just above it and another leak in a second skylight. Lastly all three of the chimneys were also leaking. The Metal roof was bubbled up in several places. Carlos and crew rebuilt the chimney from the roof line up and replaced all of the skylights during the new metal roof installation.
