The Roof Before
Here's what Paul's roof looked like before the renovation. Swipe through to see the full transformation!
Before: Aerial View
An aerial look at Paul's roof before the project showed years of wear, staining, and aging shingles ready for an upgrade.
The Teardown Begins
The crew kicks things off by carefully removing the old shingles. Protective tarps are placed around the home to keep the property safe and make cleanup efficient.
Bad Plywood Is Removed
Next, the roof decking is thoroughly inspected for any signs of rot or damage. Any compromised sections are removed and replaced with fresh CDX plywood to create a solid foundation.
Seams Are Taped and Ice and Water Shield Is Installed
To meet current building codes, all plywood seams are sealed with all-weather deck tape. Ice and water shield is then installed along the eaves, valleys, and roof penetrations for added protection.
Underlayment Is Completed
The remaining roof surface is covered with Velora One synthetic underlayment, creating a breathable, water-resistant barrier across the entire roof.
New Shingles Are Installed
Time for the new shingles! Paul chose the bold shade Granite Black from the IKO Dynasty collection: Impact 3-rated architectural shingles backed by our 50-year warranty.
SBS Roof Base Is Installed
This section of the roof has a low slope, which means shingles aren't permitted by code. Instead, an SBS modified bitumen roofing system is installed for proper drainage and durability.
SBS Roof Is Finished
The SBS system is finished with a protective cap layer, completing the low-slope section and sealing it up tight.
Ridge Vent Is Installed
A ridge vent is installed to allow hot, humid air to escape the attic, helping prevent moisture buildup. Matching ridge cap shingles provide a clean, seamless finish.
The Roof After
After final details and a full property cleanup, Paul's new roof is complete and looks great!
