The Roof Before
Here's what Klaus's roof looked like before his roof replacement. Swipe through to see the transformation.
The Teardown Begins
The project began with a complete removal of the old shingles. Protective tarps were installed around the home to safeguard the property and ensure a clean, efficient worksite throughout the process.
The Decking Is Exposed
Beneath the shingles is the plywood roof decking (sheathing), which serves as the structural foundation of the roofing system.
The Decking Is Examined
As the structural base of the roof, the decking was thoroughly inspected for signs of rot, mold, or deterioration. In this case, the decking was found to be in good condition and did not require replacement.
Seams Are Taped and Ice and Water Shield Is Installed
All plywood seams were sealed with all-weather deck tape to meet current building codes. Ice and water shield was installed along the eaves, valleys, and around all roof penetrations for critical leak protection.
Underlayment Is Installed
The remaining roof surface was covered with Velora One synthetic underlayment, providing a breathable, water-resistant barrier. Drip edge and rake metal were then installed to guide water away from the fascia and into the gutter system.
New Shingles Are Installed
For his new roof, Klaus selected IKO Dynasty architectural shingles in Castle Gray. These Impact 3-rated shingles offer enhanced durability and are backed by our 50-year warranty.
The Roof After
Ridge vents and new pipe boot flashings were installed to improve airflow and ensure watertight seals at roof penetrations. After final detailing and a complete property cleanup, Klaus's roof replacement was complete.
