Before: Worn Shingles & Moss Growth
A closer look reveals worn, curling shingles and patches of moss growth. Definitely time for an upgrade - let's get to work!
The Old Shingles Come Off
The crew begins by carefully removing all of the old shingles. Underneath is a layer of plywood called the decking, which serves as the structural foundation of the roof.
Bad Plywood Is Removed
Since decking is crucial to the stability of the roofing system, it must be thoroughly inspected. Any sections showing signs of rot, mold, or decay are removed. In this case, the rafters were also treated with Mold-X to stop future regrowth.
New Plywood Is Installed
All removed areas are replaced with brand-new CDX plywood, ensuring a strong and reliable base for the new roofing system.
Seams Are Taped & Ice and Water Shield Is Installed
Every plywood seam is taped with all-weather deck tape to meet current building codes. SealoronXT ice-and-water shield is installed from the eaves up six feet, along all valleys, and around every roof penetration for maximum protection.
Underlayment Is Completed
Velora One synthetic underlayment is applied across the remainder of the decking, creating a breathable yet water-resistant barrier.
The New Shingles Go On
Now for the new shingles! Anthony chose the sleek and durable Granite Black from our IKO Dynasty collection. These Impact-3 rated architectural shingles are proudly backed by our 50-year warranty.
The Finishing Touches
Finishing touches include new chimney flashing, ridge vent installation, and upgraded pipe boots, ensuring every component of the roof is fully protected.
The Roof Is Complete
After final details and a complete property cleanup, Anthony's new roof is officially complete - and looking great!
