The Roof Before
Here's what Cheryl's roof looked like before the renovation. Swipe through to see the stunning transformation!
Before: Lichen Land
A closer look reveals extensive lichen growth - those white patches are moisture-loving organisms similar to moss. They thrive on damp, aging shingles and can accelerate roof deterioration. Time for a fresh start!
The Teardown Begins
The crew begins by carefully stripping all of the old shingles. Large tarps are hung around the property to catch falling debris and protect the home during the teardown.
The Decking Is Exposed
Under the shingles is the plywood decking: the structural foundation of the roof.
Bad Plywood Is Removed
The decking is thoroughly inspected for any signs of rot, mold, or decay. Any damaged sections are removed to ensure a healthy, lasting foundation.
Ice & Water Shield Is Installed
Ice-and-water shield membrane is applied from the eaves up six feet, and along all valleys and roof penetrations, creating a watertight barrier in the most vulnerable areas.
Seams Are Taped
All plywood seams are taped with all-weather deck tape to meet modern building code requirements.
Underlayment is Completed and Drip Edge Is Installed
The remaining decking is covered with Velora One synthetic underlayment, forming a breathable, water-resistant layer. Drip edge and rake metal flashing are then installed along all roof edges to prevent water infiltration and guide runoff into the gutters.
New Shingles Are Installed
New shingles time! Cheryl selected the sleek Granite Black from our IKO Dynasty collection: beautiful, durable, and backed by our 50-year Brown Roofing warranty.
New Flashing for the Chimney
New chimney flashing is installed at the base of the chimney, creating a clean, watertight seal that prevents leaks at this critical junction.
The Roof After
After final touches and a complete property cleanup, Cheryl's new roof is finished - strong, stylish, and absolutely gorgeous.
