The Roof Before
Here's what Chris's roof looked like before the renovation. This flat roof was worn and ready for a full upgrade. Swipe through to see the dramatic transformation!
The Teardown Begins
The crew began by removing all of the existing decking - the plywood foundation of the roof. Because an SBS membrane must adhere directly to solid, healthy decking, everything had to come off.
A Clean Slate
With the roof stripped down to the rafters, the team had a clean starting point to rebuild a proper, long-lasting flat roofing system.
New Decking Is Installed
New ½-inch CDX plywood was installed to create a strong, stable base. Each sheet was numbered for accurate documentation so Chris knew exactly what was replaced.
SBS Roofing Base Is Installed
Next comes the first layer of the SBS roofing system - the base sheet. This Polyglass Elastoflex membrane is fully adhered to the decking to deliver superior waterproofing.
SBS Roof Is Completed
The second layer, called the cap sheet, is installed on top of the base. This completes the SBS system, providing a durable, weather-resistant surface. Chris chose a clean white finish for enhanced reflectivity and a crisp look.
The Roof After
After final details and a complete cleanup, Chris's flat roof is officially finished - and looking phenomenal!
