The Roof Before
Here's what Antonio's roof looked like from the front before the renovation. Swipe through to see the transformation!
Before: Many Issues
A closer look shows the roof was in rough shape - a tarp, patchwork repairs, and heavy moss growth. Clear signs it was overdue for a full replacement.
The Teardown Begins
The crew began by removing all the old shingles. Underneath is the sheathing - the plywood foundation of the roof - which must be structurally sound before any new materials go on.
New Plywood Is Installed
Antonio's home had an older style of sheathing called tongue-and-groove. To bring the roof up to modern standards and support today's heavier architectural shingles, the crew installed strong CDX plywood over the existing planks.
New Plywood Is Installed Part 2
Each new sheet of plywood was numbered for accurate reporting so Antonio would know exactly how many were used.
Seams Are Taped and Ice and Water Shield Is Installed
All plywood seams were sealed with all-weather deck tape to meet building codes. SealoronXT ice-and-water shield was applied from the eaves up six feet and throughout all valleys for maximum protection in vulnerable areas.
Underlayment Completed & Drip Edge and Rake Metal Are Installed
Velora One synthetic underlayment was installed over the remaining decking, creating a breathable yet water-resistant barrier. Drip edge and rake metal flashing were placed along all roof edges to prevent water intrusion and guide runoff properly.
New Shingles Are Installed
Time for shingles! Antonio chose the beautiful Frostone Gray from the IKO Dynasty collection. These Impact-3 rated architectural shingles are backed by our 50-year Brown Roofing warranty.
New Flashing Is Installed Around the Chimney
New chimney flashing - a thin, strong metal barrier - was installed to ensure the base of the chimney remains fully watertight.
Ridge Vent Is Installed
A ridge vent was added along the highest point of the roof to allow hot, humid air to escape, preventing condensation buildup inside the attic.
The Roof Is Complete
After final touches and a thorough cleanup, Antonio's new roof is complete - strong, clean, and looking absolutely incredible.
