The Old Roof
Here's what Erika's roof looked like before the renovation. These three-tab shingles were well past their lifespan, covered in staining, moss, and lichen growth. Swipe through to see the stunning transformation!
The Teardown Begins
The crew begins by carefully removing all of the old shingles. Large protective tarps are laid and hung around the property to catch debris and prevent any potential damage during the teardown.
The Teardown Continues
Before the roofing phase began, our expert masons repointed the chimney from the roofline up. Their craftsmanship created a clean, watertight finish to support the upcoming roof installation.
The Decking Is Inspected
Beneath the shingles is a layer of plywood called the decking. This is the structural foundation of the entire roofing system.
Bad Plywood Is Removed & New Plywood Is Installed
The decking must be in excellent condition, so the crew inspects every section for signs of rot, mold, or decay. Any compromised areas are fully removed.
Ice & Water Shield Is Installed
Each new sheet of plywood is numbered for accurate reporting back to the homeowner. Once installed, all seams are taped with all-weather deck tape to meet building code. SealoronXT ice-and-water shield is then applied from the eaves up six feet for maximum protection in vulnerable areas.
Underlayment Is Completed
Velora One synthetic underlayment is installed over the rest of the decking to create a breathable yet water-resistant barrier. Drip edge and rake metal flashing are added along the edges to prevent water infiltration and guide runoff into the gutters.
New Shingles Are Installed
Time for the new shingles! Erika chose the beautiful Frostone Gray from our IKO Dynasty collection. These Impact-3 rated architectural shingles are proudly backed by our 50-year Brown Roofing warranty.
Ridge Vent Is Installed
A ridge vent is installed along the highest ridges of the roof to allow hot, humid air from the attic to escape, preventing condensation, and increasing ventilation.
New Flashing Is Installed on the Chimney
New chimney flashing is installed to create a clean, watertight seal around this critical junction and ensure long-term leak protection.
The New Roof
After a final cleanup and thorough quality check, Erika's brand-new roof is complete-and it looks absolutely fantastic!
