The Roof Before
Here's what Thomas's roof looked like before the renovation. Swipe through to see the dramatic improvement!
Before: Exposed Ice and Water Shield
This area is called a roof valley, one of the most vulnerable parts of any roof. The ice-and-water shield from a previous install was fully exposed, which shouldn't happen and definitely affects curb appeal. Let's fix that.
The Teardown Begins
The crew begins by carefully removing all of the old shingles, exposing the plywood foundation underneath. This layer is called the decking.
Bad Plywood Is Removed
Because the decking is the structural base of the roof, it must be in excellent condition. Any sections found with rot, decay, or other damage are removed. Thomas's roof had several areas that needed replacement.
New Plywood Is Installed
Brand-new CDX plywood is installed to replace the compromised sections. This strong, water-resistant material creates a sturdy foundation for the new roofing system.
New Chimney Cricket Is Installed
A new chimney cricket is built and installed to properly divert water away from the back of the chimney, protecting this high-risk junction from future leaks.
New Shingles & New Flashing
Fresh shingles go on next. Thomas selected the sleek shade Summit Gray from our premium laminated IKO Dynasty collection. These Impact-3 rated shingles are backed by our 50-year warranty. New metal flashing is also installed around the chimney to ensure a clean, watertight seal.
The Roof After
After a full cleanup and final inspection, Thomas's new roof is complete and the transformation looks phenomenal!
