The Roof Before
Here's what Ray's roof looked like before the renovation. Swipe through to see the incredible transformation!
The Teardown Begins
The crew began by carefully removing all of the old shingles. Before starting, large heavy-duty tarps were hung to protect the property and catch falling debris, making cleanup quick and efficient.
The Teardown Continues
Beneath the shingles is a layer of plywood called the decking: the structural foundation of the roof.
Bad Plywood Is Removed
The team inspected the decking for any signs of rot, mold, or decay, removing any sections found with damage.
New Plywood Is Installed
Brand-new CDX plywood was installed to replace the compromised sections, creating a strong, water-resistant base for the new roofing system.
Seams Are Taped & Ice and Water Shield Is Installed
The seams of each plywood sheet were sealed with all-weather deck tape to meet current building codes. SealoronXT ice and water shield was adhered from the eaves up six feet, reinforcing vulnerable areas against the elements.
Underlayment Is Installed
The remaining sections of decking were covered in Velora One synthetic underlayment for a watertight yet breathable barrier.
New Shingles Are Installed
Time for new shingles! Ray selected the sleek shade of Granite Black from our IKO Dynasty collection. These Impact 3-rated architectural shingles are built to last and proudly backed by Brown Roofing's 50-year warranty.
Ridge Vent Is Installed
A ridge vent is installed along the highest peak of the roof to ensure that the hot, humid air rising from inside of the house is able to escape, eliminating damaging condensation buildup.
New Flashing Is Installed on the Chimney
New flashing was installed along the chimney base to form a watertight seal and ensure proper drainage.
The Roof After
After a thorough cleanup and final inspection, Ray's new roof is complete, sleek, durable, and ready to protect his home in style.
