The Roof Before
Here's what Peter's roof looked like before the replacement. The old three-tab shingles were well past their lifespan, stained, and deteriorating. Swipe through to see the full transformation!
The Teardown Starts
The crew begins by removing all of the old shingles. Large tarps are set up around the property to catch debris and protect the yard, making cleanup fast and safe.
The Decking Is Exposed
With the shingles removed, the plywood decking underneath is fully exposed. Since the decking is the structural base of the roof, the crew inspects every section for rot, mold, or decay.
New Plywood Is Installed
One area of the roof had old plank decking that needed reinforcement, so new CDX plywood was installed to create a strong, stable surface for the new roofing system.
Seams Are Taped and Ice and Water Shield Is Installed
Next, every plywood seam is taped with all-weather deck tape to meet current code. Ice & water shield is applied from the eaves up six feet and in valleys for maximum leak protection.
Underlayment Completed & Drip Edge Flashing Installed
The rest of the roof is covered in Velora One synthetic underlayment, and drip edge/rake metal flashing is installed along all edges to prevent water infiltration.
New Shingles Are Installed
Shingle time! Peter chose IKO Dynasty shingles in the vibrant shade of Biscayne, a bold color backed by our 50-year warranty.
New Flashing Is Installed on the Chimney
New chimney flashing is installed to create a watertight seal where the chimney meets the roof, protecting another key vulnerable area.
The Roof After
All finished and looking fantastic! The Biscayne shingles pair beautifully with the white siding and give the home a fresh, upgraded look.
