The Old Roof
Here's a look at the old barn roof before the renovation. Swipe through to watch the full transformation!
Protecting the Property
Before the teardown starts, the crew hangs up large tarps around the property to ensure that it is completely protected from potential damage as well as helps to catch the falling debris to make for an efficient cleanup.
The Decking
The old shingles are stripped away, exposing the plywood decking beneath: the structural base of the roof. The crew inspects every section for rot, decay, or damage.
New Plywood Is Installed
Any compromised decking is removed and replaced with strong new CDX plywood. Each sheet is numbered so the homeowner knows exactly how many were installed.
Seams Are Taped and Ice and Water Shield Is Installed
Next, the seams of every plywood sheet are sealed with all-weather deck tape to meet code. Ice & water shield is applied from the eaves up six feet for maximum protection against rain, snow, and ice dams.
Underlayment Completed & Drip Edge Flashing Installed
The rest of the roof is covered in Velora One synthetic underlayment, and drip edge/rake metal are installed along the perimeter to keep water from sneaking under the edges.
New Shingles Are Installed
Time for shingles! The barn gets a bold upgrade with IKO Dynasty shingles in Matte Black: durable, impact-rated, and backed by our 50-year warranty.
Ridge Vent Is Installed
A ridge vent is installed along the peak to let hot, humid air escape, preventing moisture and condensation inside the barn.
Ridge Cap Is Installed
Ridge cap shingles are added over the vent for a clean, finished look.
The New Roof
All done! The barn looks incredible. The Matte Black roof against the red siding? Absolute perfection.
