The Roof Before
Here's a look at Cecilia's roof before the renovation. Swipe through to see the full transformation!
Before: Moisture Damage
Notice the downspout draining directly onto the lower roof? That constant water flow causes staining, lichen growth, and long-term shingle damage. Definitely not ideal, and time to reroute it the right way.
The Teardown Begins
Before teardown begins, the crew hangs large tarps around the property. This protects landscaping and siding while also making cleanup faster and easier by catching falling debris.
Stripping Off the Old Shingles
The old shingles are carefully removed, exposing the plywood sheathing underneath: the structural foundation of the roof.
The Sheathing Is Examined
The sheathing is inspected for rot, mold, or decay. Any damaged sections are removed and replaced. The black areas along the eaves and valleys are leftover ice-and-water membrane from the original roof, which it stays in place to prevent damaging the decking further.
Underlayment Is Installed
With the decking reinforced, the underlayment system is installed: seams are taped with all-weather deck tape, SealoronXT ice-and-water shield is adhered from the eaves up six feet and in all valleys, and Velora One synthetic underlayment covers the rest for full-roof protection.
New Shingles Are Installed
Time for the new shingles! Cecilia chose IKO Dynasty in the warm, wood-tone shade Driftshake, a great match for her home and backed by our 50-year warranty.
Ridge Vents Are Installed
Ridge vents are installed along the peaks of the roof to let hot, humid air escape from the attic, preventing condensation and extending the life of the roof.
The Roof After
Here's the finished roof! Clean, strong, and beautifully upgraded, with downspouts properly rerouted so water no longer drains onto the lower section!
