The Roof Before
Here's a look at Chris's roof before the replacement. Time for a fresh new look and stronger protection. Click through to see the transformation!
The Teardown Begins
The crew starts by carefully removing all of the old shingles. Beneath them is a layer of plywood called the decking: the structural foundation of the roof.
Bad Plywood Is Removed
Any damaged plywood is removed and replaced. Sections showing signs of rot, mold, or decay are taken out to ensure a healthy base.
New Plywood Is Installed
New half-inch CDX plywood is installed, providing a strong, water-resistant surface for the new roofing system.
Solid New Base
Each new sheet is numbered for precise tracking, allowing the crew to report exactly how many were replaced to the homeowner.
Seams Are Taped & Ice and Water Shield Is Installed
The seams of the plywood are sealed with deck tape, meeting current building codes and preventing moisture infiltration. Ice and water shield is applied from the eaves up six feet and along all vulnerable areas for superior protection.
Underlayment Is Installed
Velora One synthetic underlayment covers the rest of the roof, adding a breathable yet durable layer of defense against the elements.
New Shingles Are Installed
Chris selected IKO Dynasty shingles in Brownstone, a sleek and stylish choice backed by our 50-year warranty.
Ridge Vent Is Installed
A ridge vent is installed along the top of the roof, helping hot, humid air escape and preventing attic condensation.
Clean New Flashing on the Chimney
The chimney is finished with new flashing and a freshly built cricket, the small triangular section that diverts water away to prevent pooling and leaks.
The Roof Is Finished
The finished roof looks fantastic! Clean, strong, and ready to protect Chris's home for many seasons ahead.
