From above, the roof's struggles are clear: dark discoloration, missing shingles, and signs of buckling: where moisture damage causes shingles to warp and ripple. The roof was ready for renewal.

The Teardown Begins
The crew began by stripping away every worn shingle. Heavy-duty tarps were draped around the home, catching debris and safeguarding Lee Ann's property while the old roof came down.

The Sheathing Is Exposed
Beneath the shingles lies the sheathing: the true foundation of the roof. Our team examined every inch for rot or mold. In this case, Lee Ann's roof had a small section of cedar shake sheathing, which we reinforced with new plywood sheets to build a strong, lasting base.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Installed
Each new half-inch CDX plywood sheet was numbered for precise tracking, ensuring Lee Ann knew exactly what was replaced. The seams were sealed with all-weather deck tape, and ice and water shield membrane was installed six feet up from the eaves, fortifying the roof's most vulnerable points.

Underlayment & Drip Edge Are Installed
The rest of the deck was wrapped in Velora One synthetic underlayment, a final protective barrier. Along the edges, drip edge and rake metal flashing were installed: thin, powerful shields that direct water safely into the gutters instead of the fascia.

New Shingles Are Installed
Now came the crowning moment. Lee Ann chose Granite Black from the IKO Nordic collection: sleek, stylish, and the highest-performing shingle line IKO offers. Backed by our 50-year Brown Promise, her new roof is as durable as it is beautiful.
