Here's what Julia and William's roof looked like from the street before the transformation. Swipe through to see the sleek new look!

Before: Deteriorating Shingles & Moss Growth
A closer look at the shingles reveals their age. These are three-tab shingles, which have a shorter lifespan - and these have definitely reached the end of theirs. The white areas are lichen, and the green patches are moss - both caused by moisture and debris building up where it shouldn't.

The Teardown Begins
The crew starts by carefully stripping all of the old shingles off the roof. Before teardown begins, large tarps are hung around the roof's perimeter to catch falling debris, protect the property, and make cleanup fast and efficient.

New Plywood Is Installed
Beneath the shingles is the sheathing - a layer of plywood that serves as the roof's structural foundation. Any sections with damage, such as rot or mold, are removed and replaced with strong, new half-inch CDX plywood to ensure a solid base for the roofing system.

Ice-and-Water Shield Is Installed
Ice-and-water shield membrane is installed from the eaves up six feet and in vulnerable areas like valleys to provide maximum protection from rain, snow, wind, and ice.

Underlayment Is Completed
Velora One synthetic underlayment is applied over the rest of the roof for added durability. Drip edge and rake metal flashing - a thin metal barrier - is installed along the roof edges to prevent water intrusion, guiding runoff safely into the gutters.

New Shingles Are Installed
IKO Dynasty shingles in the striking shade of Atlantic Blue are then installed. These sleek, Impact Rating 3 architectural shingles are known for both strength and style, and they're backed by our 50-year Brown Promise warranty.

Chimney Gets New Flashing
New flashing is installed around the chimney to seal off this vulnerable area. Like the drip edge, this thin metal barrier helps prevent water from seeping in where it doesn't belong.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
A ridge vent is installed along the roof's peaks to promote airflow and allow hot, humid air from inside the home to escape. This helps prevent damaging condensation. Ridge cap shingles are added over the vent for a clean, seamless finish.
