The Roof Before
Here's a look at Brendan's house before the roof transformation. Swipe through to see the fantastic renovation!
Before: Shingle Pattern Baldness
A closer look at Brendan's roof reveals issues that aren't always visible from the ground. The shingles are losing their protective granules, making them less effective against the elements. Left unaddressed, this can lead to larger bald spots, leaks, and interior damage. It's time to take off this aging roof and replace it with something modern, durable, and built to last.
The Teardown Begins
The crew starts things off by carefully stripping all of the old shingles off of the roof. Before they begin, they hang up large tarps around the edges of the roof, as well as drape some across the property. These are meant to catch falling debris, leading to an easier cleanup process, as well as ensuring full protection of the homeowner's property from potential damage.
The Sheathing Is Exposed
Underneath the old shingles is a layer of plywood called the sheathing. This is the structural foundation of the roof, and, as such, must be in tip-top condition before the new roofing system can be installed on top. The crew closely examines the sheathing for any evidence of damage, such as rot or mold, and removes any affected sections. The removed sections are then replaced with sturdy new half-inch CDX plywood.
Seams Are Taped and Ice and Water Shield Is Installed
Ice and water shield membrane is installed from the eaves up six feet to ensure the most vulnerable parts of the roof are fully protected from harsh elements like rain, snow, and ice. After that, the rest of the sheets of plywood are taped up at the seams with all-weather deck tape to meet current building codes.
Underlayment Is Installed
The rest of the sheathing is lined with Velora One synthetic underlayment for the best protection possible. After that, we will be ready for new shingles!
Same for the Bay Window Roof
It's not just the main roof that gets the upgrade! Every side roof and bay window is treated with the same premium care and materials during the renovation.
New Shingles Are Installed
