Before: Moss Land
This roof in Oxford, CT was a hotspot for moss growth, thanks to the surrounding shade of its beautiful, forested property. It was time for an upgrade: stronger, heavier-weight shingles that stand up better to moisture and moss. Swipe through to see the phenomenal transformation!

The Teardown Begins
The crew kicks things off by carefully stripping all of the old shingles off of the roof. Underneath the old shingles is a layer of plywood called the sheathing. This is the structural foundation of the roof.

A Clean Slate
The crew found that all of the sheathing was damaged from years of harsh elements. So the crew stripped off all of the old sheathing down to the rafters, creating a clean slate for a brand new, stronger roof.

New Plywood Is Installed
Brand new half-inch CDX plywood sheets are used to create a solid, strong base for the new roof. Each sheet used is numbered for easy tracking so that the crew can accurately report back to the homeowner exactly how many were installed.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Installed
The seams of each plywood sheet are taped up with all-weather deck tape to meet current building codes. Ice and water shield membrane are applied six feet up from the sides to ensure full protection from water, snow, and ice. After that, Velora One synthetic underlayment is installed over the rest of the sheathing.

New Shingles Are Installed
Now it's time to install the new shingles! To beautifully complement his wood-sided home, Bruce selected the gorgeous shade of Monaco Red from our IKO Dynasty collection. These sleek, premium-laminated and Impact 3-rated shingles are proudly backed by our 50-year warranty!

Ridge Vent Is Installed
A ridge vent is installed along the highest point of the roof. This vent ensures proper airflow by allowing hot, moist air rising from inside of the house a way to escape, preventing damaging condensation buildup inside of the attic.

The Roof Is Complete
With everything polished off and the property looking sharp, Bruce's new roof is finished and looking fantastic!
