The Roof Before
This is what Bob's old roof looked like before the transformation. Swipe through to see the fantastic transformation!

Before: Rotted Fascia
A closer look at Bob's roof shows that his fascia (the vertical board (or frieze) that sits directly underneath the roof's overhang) is heavily rotted. We are going to get this cleaned up and fixed once and for all!

A Clean Slate
It was clear from the start that the entire roof needed to be removed down to the rafters due to moisture damage. Instead of the usual process of stripping shingles off the plywood sheathing, the crew took everything down to the rafters to start fresh with a clean slate.

New Plywood Is Installed
Brand-new 1/2-inch CDX plywood is precisely cut to fit and securely nailed into place, creating a strong and solid foundation for the new roof.

A Solid New Base
Each new sheet of plywood installed is numbered for easy tracking so that the crew can accurately report back to the homeowner exactly how many sheets were used.

Seams Are Taped & Ice and Water Shield Is Installed
With all of the new sheathing securely in place, the crew moved onto the next step: taping up the seams of each plywood sheet with all-weather Sealoron XT deck tape to meet current building codes. After that, the ice-and-water shield is installed from the eaves to six feet up, as well as along all of the valleys. This is a thin, waterproof membrane that adheres directly to the decking, protecting it from harsh elements like rain, snow, and ice.

Underlayment Is Installed
Velora One synthetic underlayment is installed over the entire surface of the sheathing, providing reliable water resistance and preparing the roof for the final layer of shingles.

New Shingles Are Installed
Now it's time to install the new shingles! For her new roof, Dolores has selected the sleek shade of Biscayne from our IKO Dynasty collection. These premium-laminated, Impact 3-rated shingles are proudly backed by Brown Roofing's 50-year warranty!

Ridge Vent Is Installed
A shingle vent is installed along the ridges of the roof to allow for proper airflow. This vent lets hot, moist air that rises from inside of the house a way to escape, cutting down on damaging moisture buildup.

New Flashing Is Installed on the Chimney
New flashing is secured around the sides of the chimney where it meets the roof. This thin metal acts as a barrier, preventing water from seeping in through the junction and causing damage.

A Beautiful New Roof
After a few finishing touches and a thorough cleanup of the property, Dolores's new roof is finished and looking fantastic!
