The Roof Before
Here's a glance at Lisa's roof before replacement. Click through to see the excellent transformation!

The Teardown Starts
The crew starts things off by carefully stripping all of the old shingles off of the roof. Before they start the teardown, large tarps are hung up around the edges of the roof to catch the falling debris, leading to a more efficient cleanup process and full protection of the homeowner's property from potential damage.

The Decking Is Exposed
Underneath the old shingles is a layer of plywood called the decking. This is the structural foundation of the roof, and must be in tip-top health before we can start putting the new roofing system on. The crew closely examines the entire surface for any evidence of damage, like rot or mold.

New Plywood Is Installed
Any sections found with damage are removed and replaced with half-inch CDX plywood to ensure a solid, strong base.

Seams Are Taped and Underlayment Is Installed
With the decking secured, ice and water shield membrane is applied to the decking from the eaves up six feet. After that, the seams of each sheet of plywood are taped up with all-weather Sealoron XT deck tape as another measure of reinforcement and also to meet current building code. Then, a layer of NovaSeal ULTRA synthetic underlayment is installed over all of the decking not covered in ice and water shield.

New Shingles Are Installed
Now that the underlayment is complete, it's time to start installing the new shingles! Brown Roofing proudly trusts IKO Dynasty premium-laminated shingles for all roofs backed by our 50-year warranty. Lisa has selected the sleek shade of Frostone Gray for her new roof.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
A ridge vent is added at the peak of the roof to let rising heat and moisture escape, helping prevent condensation and allowing for proper airflow.

The Roof After
With the final details wrapped up and the yard cleaned, Lisa's roof is officially done, and it looks amazing!
