The Roof Before
Here's a look at Ziggy's roof before replacement. We're focusing on the main section, where you can clearly see heavy lichen and streaky algae buildup. It's definitely time for a much-needed refresh. Swipe through to see the sleek transformation!

The Teardown Starts
The crew starts off by tearing all of the old shingles off of the roof, revealing the layer of plywood underneath. This is called the sheathing, and it is the structural foundation of the roof.

Examining the Sheathing
As the structural foundation of the roof, the health of the sheathing is essential. The crew closely examines the entire surface for evidence of damage, like rot or mold, as those sections need to be removed and replaced to ensure a strong and solid base for the new roofing system. Fortunately for Ziggy, his sheathing was in excellent condition, and the crew was able to move forward with the next steps!

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Applied
The seams of each plywood sheet are taped up with all-weather deck tape to meet current building codes. Ice and water shield membrane are applied six feet up from the sides to ensure full protection from water, snow, and ice. After that, NovaSeal ULTRA synthetic underlayment is installed over the rest of the sheathing.

New Shingles Are Installed
Now it's time for the crew to start installing shingles! Ziggy chose this specific shingle to perfectly match the other sections of his roof. They're installed in a staggered "staircase" pattern to ensure a seamless look and reliable protection all the way through.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
A ridge vent is installed along the peak of the roof to allow warm, humid air from inside the home to escape, helping to prevent condensation and moisture-related damage.

Pipe Boot Flashing Is Installed
Strong pipe boot flashing is installed on all of the roof's pipes.

The Roof After
After a few finishing touches and a thorough cleanup of the entire property, Ziggy's partial roof replacement is complete!
