The Old Roof
Here's what Julie's old roof looked like before the transformation. Swipe through to see exactly how we did it!

The Teardown Begins
After Julie's solar company came to temporarily remove her panels, the crew got to work carefully stripping all of the old shingles off of the roof. Underneath the shingles is a layer of plywood called the roof sheathing.

Seams Are Taped & Ice and Water Shield Is Installed
The sheathing is the structural foundation of the roof, and, as such, must be in tip-top condition before we can proceed with installing the new roof. The crew closely examined Julie's roof for any damaged plywood affected by things like rot and mold, and, when they didn't find any, they went ahead with the next step! Ice and water shield is installed from the eaves up six feet. This is a thin, waterproof membrane that adheres directly to the sheathing to protect it from moisture damage that could be caused by rain, snow, or ice. The rest of the sheets are taped up at the seams with all-weather Sealoron XT deck tape to meet current building codes.

Underlayment Is Completed and Drip Edge Flashing Is Installed
Velora One synthetic underlayment is installed over the rest of the sheathing's surface. After that, thin metal barriers called the rake metal and the drip edge flashing are installed around the edges of the roof to ensure a watertight seal, directing moisture away from the fascia and guiding it into the gutters.

New Shingles Are Installed
Now it's time to install the new shingles! Brown Roofing proudly trusts IKO Dynasty premium-laminated architectural shingles for all roofs backed by our 50-year warranty. These shingles come in a variety of eye-catching shades, and Julie has selected the gorgeous Atlantic Blue for her new roof.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
A ridge vent is installed along the peak of the roof to allow hot, humid air to escape from the attic. This helps prevent condensation buildup, which can lead to moisture damage over time and ensures the roof system stays healthy and well-ventilated.

The New Roof
With a few finishing touches and a thorough double-check of the property, Julie's new roof is officially complete and looking fantastic!
