The Roof Before
Here's what Geraldine's roof looked like before the renovation. Those worn, algae-stained three-tab shingles have got to go! Swipe through to see the beautiful way we transformed it with strong new architectural shingles.

Beginning the Teardown
Before the crew starts stripping off the old shingles, large tarps are hung up around the edges of the roof to catch the falling debris as well as make sure that the homeowner's property is fully protected from potential damage. Now it's time to get to tearing!

Bad Plywood Is Removed
Underneath the shingles is a layer of plywood called the sheathing, which is the structural foundation of the roof. As such, its health is essential, so any areas found with damage, like rot or mold, are found and removed.

New Plywood Is Installed
Sturdy new half-inch CDX plywood is installed to secure a strong and solid base. Each plywood sheet used is numbered so that the crew can accurately report back to the homeowner exactly how many sheets were installed.

Ice-and-Water Shield Is Installed
Ice and water shield is adhered to the decking from the eaves to six feet up, as well as around the skylight and other junctions. This strong membrane shields the decking from harsh elements that could otherwise seep into the roof and cause moisture damage, like rain, snow, and ice.

Seams Are Taped and Underlayment Is Completed
The seams of the rest of the sheets in the decking are taped up with all-weather Sealoron deck tape as per current building codes. After that, NovaSeal ULTRA synthetic underlayment is rolled out and nailed into place over the rest of the surface, making it ready for the new shingles to be installed.

New Shingles Are Installed
Geraldine had a specific type of shingle in mind for her home, and we were happy to accommodate her request, as customer satisfaction is always our top priority. These light gray shingles pair beautifully with the carmine-colored exterior of her home.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
A shingle vent is installed along the ridges of the roof to allow for proper airflow. This vent lets hot, moist air that rises from inside of the house a way to escape, cutting down on damaging moisture buildup.

Ridge Cap Is Installed
Ridge cap shingles are installed over the vent to ensure a seamless finish.

New Flashing for the Pipes
Strong Manning Perma-Boot flashing is installed around all of the roof's pipes.

The Roof After
After a few finishing touches and a thorough inspection as well as a spotless cleanup of the yard, Gerladine's roof is officially complete and looking phenomenal!
