The Old Roof
Here's a look at Juan's old roof from the front before the renovation. Those drab, worn shingles have got to go! Click through to see the beautiful transformation!

The Teardown Begins
The crew starts things off by stripping all of the old shingles off of the roof. Before the teardown officially begins, the crew hangs up large, heavy-duty tarps around the edges of the roof to catch the falling debris, leading to a more efficient cleanup process and total protection of the homeowner's property.

The Decking Is Exposed
Underneath the old shingles lies a layer of plywood known as the decking, which is the structural foundation of the roof. On top of the decking is the black underlayment the previous roofing company installed. This is a thin, waterproof membrane that helps protect the wood from moisture damage. Because it's firmly adhered to the plywood, removing it could cause unnecessary damage, so it's best left in place.

Bad Plywood Is Removed
The decking must be in tip-top shape for the new roof. Any parts of the decking with damage like rot or mold are removed.

Seams Are Taped and Underlayment Is Installed
Ice and water shield, our specialized underlayment, is adhered from the eaves up six feet. Then, the seams of the rest of the plywood sheets are taped up with all-weather Sealoron XT deck tape to meet current building code. After that, Velora One synthetic underlayment is applied to the rest of the decking surface to ensure complete protection of the decking from harsh elements like rain, snow, wind, and ice.

New Shingles Are Installed
With the underlayment fully in place, it's time to install the brand-new shingles! Brown Roofing proudly trusts IKO Dynasty premium-laminated, architectural shingles for all roofs backed by our 50-year warranty. These shingles come in a variety of colors, and Juan has selected the ever-popular Granite Black to perfectly complement his home.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
A shingle vent is installed along the ridge of the roof to ensure proper airflow. This vent allows hot, humid air rising from inside of the house a way to escape, eliminating damaging moisture buildup.]

A Polished Finish
Ridge shingle caps are firmly secured over the ridge vent to create a seamless and polished finish.

The New Roof
After a thorough cleanup of the entire yard and a double-check of everything, Juan's new roof is officially complete and looking phenomenal!
