The Old Roof
Here's a look at Bob's home from the front before we got started. Once the new roof and siding are complete, this place is going to look incredible! Swipe through to watch the transformation begin with the roof!

The Teardown Begins
The crew starts things off by carefully stripping all of the old shingles off of the roof. Before they begin the teardown, they hang up large tarps around the edges of the roof to catch the falling debris and ensure complete protection of the homeowner's property from potential damage.

New Plywood Is Installed
Underneath the shingles is a layer of plywood called the roof decking. This is the structural foundation of the roof and as such must be in tip-top condition. The crew found that only one part of the decking needed to be replaced, and that was around the chimney-a relatively vulnerable area if not properly flashed. Brand-new 1/2" CDX plywood is cut to fit and install precisely into place.

Seams Are Taped & Ice-and-Water Shield Is Installed
To keep up with current building codes, each sheet of plywood is taped at the seams with all-weather Sealoron XT deck tape. Ice-and-water shield is installed from the eaves up six feet. This is a thin, waterproof membrane that adheres directly to the plywood and creates a strong barrier between the decking and harsh elements like rain, snow, and ice.

Drip Edge & Rake Metal Flashing Are Installed
The rest of the decking is covered with strong Velora One synthetic underlayment to ensure full protection of the roof's foundation. After that, a thin metal barrier called the drip edge and rake metal flashing goes around all of the edges of the roof to ensure water does not leak under, directing it instead into the gutters.

New Fascia Is Installed
The crew removes Bob's damaged fascia and installs a brand-new one around the entire house. Fascia is the long, horizontal board that runs along the roof's overhang, ensuring a solid attachment point for gutters.

New Shingles Are Installed
Now it's time for the new shingles! For his new roof, Bob has selected the desirable hue of Driftshake from our premium-laminated IKO Dynasty collection. These strong, premium-laminated shingles are proudly backed by Brown Roofing's 50-year warranty.

New Shingles for the Bay Window
This type of window is called a bay window, and you better believe we do the exact same premium process for this roof that we do for the main roof!

Ridge Vent Is Installed
With all the shingles on, the next step is to install a vent along the ridge of the roof. This allows air to properly circulate by allowing hot, moist air that rises from inside of the house a way to escape, eliminating damaging moisture buildup.

The New Roof
With a few finishing touches and a thorough cleanup of the entire yard, Bob's roof is complete and is looking better than it has in years. Now all that's left to complete is the siding!
