The Old Roof
Here's a look at Millissa and Brandon's roof from the front right before the renovation. Click through to see the excellent transformation!

The Teardown Begins
The crew starts things off by carefully removing all of the old shingles off of the roof. Before they begin, large tarps are laid our and hung up around the house and yard to catch the falling debris as well as ensure complete protection of the homeowner's property.

The Decking Is Exposed
Underneath the old shingles is a layer of plywood called the roof decking. This is the structural foundation of the roof and, as such, its health is essential. The crew will closely examine the decking for any signs of rot, decay, mold, or other damage.

Bad Plywood Is Removed
Any plywood found with damage is promptly removed.

New Plywood Is Installed
Strong new 1/2" CDX plywood replaces the removed sections. Each new sheet used is numbered so that the crew can accurately report back to the homeowner exactly how many were installed.

Seams Are Taped and Underlayment Is Installed
After all necessary plywood is replaced, each sheet is taped up at the seams with all-weather Sealoron XT deck tape to meet current building codes. After that, it's time to install the underlayment. This is a thin, water-resistant barrier that protects the decking from harsh elements like rain, snow, and ice. Ice-and-water shield is applied from the eaves up six feet, as well as along all valleys.

Drip Edge Flashing Is Installed
The rest of the decking is covered with Velora One synthetic underlayment. After that, drip edge and rake metal flashing are installed around all of the edges of the roof. This is a thin metal that prevents water from seeping in through these areas, instead directing it towards the gutters.

New Shingles Are Installed
The crew now installs the beautiful brand-new shingles. The shingles Millissa and Brandon have selected to perfectly complement their home are the premium-laminated, architectural IKO Dynasty in the very popular shade of Granite Black. IKO Dynasty is proudly backed by Brown Roofing's 50-year guarantee.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
A ridge vent is installed along the highest points of the roof. These ensure proper air circulation within the roof by allowing hot, moist air rising from inside of the house a way to escape, eliminating damaging moisture buildup.

The New Roof
After a few finishing touches, like adding a ridge cap over the ridge vent for a polished finish, as well as a thorough cleanup of the entire property, Millissa and Brandon's new roof is officially complete!
