The Roof Before
Here is a look at Liz's roof before the renovation. Swipe through to see the sleek transformation!

Before: Low-Sloping Section
This section of Liz's old roof is considered low-sloping, meaning that the pitch is too gentle for shingles to be installed. Instead, a specialized SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene) roofing system is installed here. Keep swiping to see how we turned this spot from worn to wow!

The Teardown Begins
The crew starts things off by carefully stripping off all of the old shingles. Before the teardown begins, the crew hangs up large tarps around the edges of the roof to catch falling debris, making for a speedier cleanup process as well as ensuring full protection of the homeowner's property.

The Sheathing Is Examined
Underneath the old shingles is a layer of plywood called the sheathing. This is the structural foundation of the roof, and must be in tip-top shape before the new shingles can be installed. The crew inspects the entire surface closely for any evidence of damage, such as rot or mold.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Installed
The seams of each sheet of plywood are taped up with heavy-duty Sealoron XT deck tape. After that, underlayment is installed over the entire surface. This thin, water-resistant material protects the sheathing from harsh elements like rain, snow, and ice.

New SBS Base Is Installed
The first layer of the SBS roof, called the base, is also installed at this point. This membrane is similar to the underlayment installed on the rest of the roof.

SBS Cap Is Installed
The top layer of the SBS roof, called the cap, is securely adhered onto the base, completing the SBS section.

New Shingles Are Installed
With the underlayment fully in place, it's time to install the new shingles! For her new roof, Liz has chosen the ever-popular shade of Granite Black from our premium-laminated IKO Dynasty collection. These heavyweight shingles are proudly backed by Brown Roofing's 50-year warranty.

The Roof After
After a few finishing touches and a meticulous cleanup of the entire property to ensure it is left spotless, Liz's new roof is officially complete!
