The Roof Before
Here's a look at Stephan's roof before the renovation. Now swipe through to see the gorgeous transformation!

The Teardown Begins
The crew starts things off by carefully stripping all of the old shingles off of the roof. Before they begin, large tarps are hung up all around the edges of the roof to catch the falling debris. This makes sure that the homeowner's property is completely protected from falling debris, and also makes for a far more efficient cleanup process.

The Sheathing Is Examined
Underneath the shingles is a layer of plywood called the sheathing. This is the structural foundation of the roof. After all of the shingles are fully removed, the crew will closely examine the entire surface for any evidence of damage, like rot or mold.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Installed
After the sheathing is found to have no damage and no sections needing to be replaced, the crew tapes up each sheet of plywood at the seams with all-weather deck tape to meet current building code standards. After that, a layer of underlayment is installed over the entire surface. This is a thin, waterproof material that protects the roof from damaging elements like rain, snow, and ice.

Ready for New Shingles
After the underlayment is fully installed, a thin metal barrier called drip edge flashing is installed around all of the edges of the roof. This prevents water from seeping in under the edges of the roof by directing the water away from the fascia and towards the gutters.

New Shingles Are Installed
Brown Roofing proudly installs premium-laminated IKO Dynasty shingles for all roofs backed by our 50-year warranty! For his beautiful new roof, Stephan has selected the sleek shade of Summit Gray.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
A shingle vent is installed along all of the ridges of the roof. This vent allows for healthy air circulation by letting hot, moist air that rises from inside of the house a way to escape, preventing damaging condensation buildup.
