Prepping the Property
Before the teardown starts, the crew takes care to lay down large tarps along the yard to fully ensure that he homeowner's property is protected as well as pave the way for a more efficient cleanup process.

The Teardown Begins
Underneath the old shingles is a layer of plywood called the sheathing. This is the structural foundation of the entire roof.

Sheathing Is Examined
As the structural foundation of the roof, the health of the sheathing is essential. Any sections found with damage, such as rot or mold, are removed and replaced with brand-new durable 1/2" CDX plywood.

New Plywood Is Installed
Each new sheet is precisely fit and securely nailed into place, ensuring a strong and solid base. All sheets are numbered for easy tracking so that the crew can accurately report back to the homeowner exactly how many new sheets were installed.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Installed
Each sheet of plywood is taped at the seams with all-weather deck tape as an added layer of reinforcement. After that, a layer of underlayment is installed over the entire surface. This is a thin, water-resistant membrane that protects the sheathing from harsh, potentially damaging elements like wind, rain, snow, and ice.

New Shingles Are Installed
Now it's time to install the new shingles! Brown Roofing proudly installs premium-laminated, heavyweight IKO Dynasty shingles for all roofs backed by our 50-year guarantee. For his new roof, Stephen has selected the ever-popular shade of Granite Black to perfectly complement his home.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
A vent is installed along all of the ridges of the roof to ensure proper airflow. This vent allows hot, moist air rising inside of the house a way to escape, preventing damaging condensation buildup.

New Flashing on the Chimney
Elegant new copper flashing is installed and sealed with strong caulk on the side of the chimney where it meets the roof. This thin metal barrier diverts water away from seeping into an otherwise vulnerable junction.

The Roof After
After a few finishing touches and a thorough cleanup of the entire property, Stephen's new roof is officially complete and looking fantastic!
