The Roof Before
Here's a look at Kate's roof before the renovation. Click through to see the excellent transformation!

The Old Shingles Are Removed
The crew kicks things off by carefully tearing all of the old shingles off of the roof. This reveals the plywood layer underneath, which is called the roof sheathing. This is the structural foundation of the roof.

New Plywood Is Installed
As the structural foundation of the roof, the health of the entire sheathing is extremely important. Any sections found with damage, like rot or mold, are removed and replaced with strong new CDX plywood.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Installed
All of the seams of the plywood sheets are taped up with durable all-weather deck tape. After that, a layer of underlayment is installed over the entire surface. This is a thin, water-resistant membrane that protects the sheathing from harsh elements like rain, snow, and ice.

New Shingles Are Installed
Now it's time to install the new shingles! For her new roof, Kate has selected the highly popular shade of Granite Black from our premium-laminated IKO Dynasty collection to perfectly complement her light peach home.

Same for the Garage
Meanwhile, the exact same process is also occurring for the garage's roof: old shingles removed, sheathing inspection and replacement where necessary, new underlayment installed, and now new shingles.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
A vent is installed along the ridges of Kate's roof to ensure proper airflow. This vent allows hot, humid air that rises from inside of the house to escape, cutting down on damaging condensation buildup.

New Flashing Installed on the Chimney
New flashing is installed along the edges of the chimney where it meets the roof. This is a thin metal barrier designed to direct water away from this critical junction.

The Roof After
After a few finishing touches and a spotless cleanup of the property, Kate's new roof is officially complete!

The Garage After
The crew also finishes up the garage's roof, looking fantastic and all in a day's work!
