The Old Roof
Here's a look at Shirley's roof before the renovation. Swipe through to see how we transformed it!

The Teardown Begins
The crew starts things off by stripping all of the old shingles off of the roof. Before the teardown officially begins, large tarps are hung up around the edges of the roof and draped over areas of the yard to ensure that the property is fully protected from falling debris as well as pave the way for a more efficient cleanup process at the end of the project.

The Sheathing Is Exposed
Underneath the shingles is a layer of plywood called the sheathing. This is the structural foundation of the roof, and as such, must be in tip-top condition. The crew closely inspects the entire surface for any areas of damage, such as rot or mold, and removes and replaces these sections.

Bad Plywood Is Removed
Here is an example of bad plywood found by our crew. That black mold cannot be ignored! The crew properly disposes of these pieces and subsequently sprays down the rafters with mold deterrent.

New Plywood Is Installed
Durable new 1/2" CDX plywood is installed in place of the removed sections, ensuring a solid and strong base. Each sheet is numbered for easy tracking so that the crew can accurately report back to the homeowner on exactly how many sheets were used.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Installed
The crew tapes up the seams of each sheet with strong all-weather deck tape. After that, a layer of underlayment is installed over the entire surface. This is a thin, waterproof membrane that shields the sheathing from damaging elements that could cause moisture damage, like rain, snow, and ice.

New Shingles Are Installed
With all of the underlayment installed, it's time to put on the new shingles! For her new roof, Shirley has selected the stunning shade of Summit Gray from our premium-laminated IKO Dynasty collection to perfectly complement her home. These heavyweight shingles are proudly backed by Brown Roofing's 50-year warranty.

The New Roof
With a few final touches, Shirley's new roof is complete and ready to stand strong for years to come!
