The Roof Before
Here's a look at Karen's roof before the renovation. Swipe through to see the beautiful transformation!

The Teardown Begins
The crew kicks things off by carefully stripping all of the old shingles off of the roof. Before the teardown starts, the crew hangs up large tarps around the edges of the roof to catch the falling debris-ensuring full protection of the property and the most efficient cleanup process.

The Sheathing Is Exposed
Underneath the old shingles is a layer of plywood called the sheathing. This is the structural foundation of the roof.

Bad Plywood Is Removed
As the structural foundation of the roof, it's essential that the sheathing is in healthy condition. Any sections with damage, such as rot or mold, are found and removed.

New Plywood Is Installed
Sturdy new CDX plywood replaces any removed sections, precisely cut and securely nailed into place. Each sheet used is numbered so that the crew can accurately report back to the homeowner exactly how many new sheets were installed.

Same for the Shed
The same process is occurring on Karen's shed! The crew carefully inspects and installs new plywood where necessary to ensure a strong, solid base for the new roof.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Installed
All seams of the plywood sheets are taped up with all-weather Sealoron XT deck tape. After that, underlayment is applied over the entire surface. This thin, waterproof membrane protects the sheathing from damaging elements that may cause moisture damage, like rain, snow, and ice.

Drip Edge Flashing Is Installed
Drip edge flashing is installed around the edges of the roof. This thin metal barrier prevents moisture from seeping under by directing water away from the fascia and into the gutters.

New Shingles Are Installed
Now it's time to install the brand-new IKO Dynasty shingles! These premium-laminated, architectural shingles are proudly backed by Brown Roofing's 50-year warranty. Karen has selected the shade of Biscayne to beautiful complement her cream-colored home.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
A vent is installed along the ridges of the roof to ensure proper airflow by allowing hot, humid air that rises from inside of the house a way to escape, preventing damaging condensation buildup.

The Roof After
After a few finishing touches and thorough cleanup of the property, Karen's new roof is officially complete and looking fantastic!

The Shed After
And let's not forget the shed! Beautiful, strong, and built to last, these two buildings have new, high-quality roofs guaranteed to last a lifetime.
