The Roof Before
Here's what Bill's roof looked like before the replacement. Click through to see the sleek way we transformed it!

Prepping the Property
Before the crew starts the teardown, they hang large tarps around the edges of the roof as well as lay tarps around the yard to ensure that the homeowner's property is fully protected. In addition, this helps to make the cleanup process a bit more efficient.

The Sheathing
The crew carefully removes all of the old shingles. This leaves the layer of plywood underneath, which is called the roof sheathing, exposed. The crew will closely inspect the sheathing for any signs of damage, such as rot or mold.

A Clean Slate
The crew determined that all Bill's sheathing was damaged and needed to be replaced. After receiving the go-ahead from the homeowner, the crew proceeded to remove all of the old plywood, creating a fresh, clean slate for a brand-new roof.

New Plywood Is Installed
The crew installs brand-new 1/2" CDX plywood, precisely fit, cut if necessary, and securely nailed into the rafters. Each new sheet is numbered to make for easy tracking, so that the crew can accurately report back to the homeowner on exactly how many new sheets were used.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Installed
The seams of all the sheets of plywood are taped up with heavy-duty, all-weather deck tape as an added measure of reinforcement. Next, underlayment is installed over the entire surface. This thin, waterproof membrane further protects the sheathing from harsh elements like rain, wind, snow, and ice.

New Shingles Are Installed
Now it's time to install the new shingles! For his new roof, Bill has selected the stunning shade of Monaco Red from our IKO Dynasty collection. These top tier, premium-laminated shingles are proudly backed by our 50-year warranty.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
To keep air flowing properly, a shingle vent is installed along the ridges of the roof, allowing hot, moist air to exit and helping to avoid damaging condensation.

New Flashing for the Chimney and Pipes
New flashing is installed around the chimney and each of the pipe vents. This is a thin, strong material that acts as a barrier, preventing water from seeping what would otherwise be vulnerable junctions.

The Roof After
After a few finishing touches and a thorough cleanup of the property, Bill's new roof is complete, built to last and look fantastic for years to come!
