Before: Front View
This is what Gail's roof looked like before the replacement. Even from a distance, you can see the thick moss taking over the shingles. Time to give this roof a fresh start!
Old Shingles Are Removed
the crew begins by removing the old shingles. This exposes the plywood layer underneath, which is called the roof decking.
New Plywood Is Installed
As the structural foundation of the roof, the decking needs to be in tip-top shape. Any sections found with damage, like rot or mold, are promptly discarded and replaced with fresh, sturdy new plywood.
Underlayment Is Installed
After all of the decking is securely in place, the crew installs a layer of underlayment over the entire surface. This thin, waterproof synthetic felt material protects the decking from rain, snow, ice, and other harsh weather elements.
New Shingles Are Installed
Now it's time to install the new IKO Dynasty premium-laminated shingles, renowned for their durability and stunning appearance. Our expert crew carefully lays them in a precise "staircase" pattern, guaranteeing a seamless finish.
SBS Roof Base Is Installed
This section of Gail's roof had a low slope, which made it unsuitable for traditional shingles. Instead, an SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene) roofing membrane was installed. This durable synthetic rubber material has two layers, with the bottom layer, known as the base, acting as the underlayment for the low-sloping roof.
SBS Roof Is Finished
The top layer of the SBS roof, called the cap, is rolled out and securely adhered to the top of the base, and now the low-sloping section is complete.
The Finished Product
After a few final touches, Gail's roof is complete, moss-free, and looking absolutely stunning! She's now ready to enjoy a durable, long-lasting roof that will stand strong for years to come.
