Existing Roof - Front View
This front view shows Charlotte's Newtown home before the roofing project began. The existing roof was approximately 30 years old, and the new homeowner wanted to have it replaced before moving into the property.
Roof Tear-Off and Property Protection
Our crew began removing the existing shingles while large protective tarps were positioned around the home. These coverings help protect the surrounding property and collect debris throughout the tear-off process.
Shed Roof Decking Replacement
In addition to the main house, the project included roof replacements on two sheds. During the inspection of this shed's exposed decking, deteriorated plywood was identified and removed so the affected sections could be replaced before new roofing materials were installed.
Taped Decking Seams and Ice and Water Shield
After the roof decking was inspected and prepared, our crew taped the seams between plywood sheets and installed ice and water shield. These materials provide additional protection at vulnerable areas of the roofing system.
VELORA ONE Synthetic Underlayment
VELORA ONE synthetic underlayment was installed across the remaining prepared roof surfaces. With the protective layers in place, the roof was ready for installation of the new architectural shingles.
Ice and Water Shield on Second Shed
The second shed received ice and water shield across its roof surface before shingle installation. This protective membrane adds an extra layer of defense against water intrusion beneath the finished roofing materials.
Preparing the Roof Section Above the Windows
A smaller roof section above the home's windows was also included in the replacement project. After the installation of ice and water shield across this section, our crew began laying starter shingles in preparation for the finished roofing.
IKO Dynasty Granite Black Shingle Installation
Our crew installed IKO Dynasty architectural shingles in Granite Black on the main roof. The deep charcoal and black tones create a classic, dimensional appearance that complements the home's exterior.
New VELUX Skylight Installation
The existing skylight was replaced with a new VELUX unit, complete with flashing integrated into the surrounding roofing system. The updated skylight provides a clean, finished appearance while continuing to bring natural light into the home.
Updated Chimney Flashing
New flashing was installed around the chimney to help protect the intersection between the masonry and the roofing materials. Properly integrated chimney flashing is an important component of the roof's water-shedding system.
Completed Roof - Front View
The finished roof features IKO Dynasty architectural shingles in Granite Black, giving Charlotte's Newtown home a clean, refreshed appearance. With roofing improvements extending to the sheds and smaller roof sections, along with a new skylight and chimney flashing, the property received a comprehensive exterior upgrade.
