Starting With a Clean Slate
The Brown Roofing crew began by carefully removing the existing shingles to expose the roofing system underneath. Large protective tarps were positioned around the work area to help protect the home and surrounding property throughout the tear-off process.
Inspecting the Roof Deck
Once the existing roofing materials were removed, the roof decking was fully exposed for inspection. As the structural foundation of the roofing system, the decking needs to provide a solid, dependable surface before the new roof can be installed.
Removing Damaged Plywood
The inspection revealed several areas of damaged plywood that could not remain beneath the new roofing system. The crew removed the affected sheets so those sections could be rebuilt with sound material before installation continued.
Restoring the Deck With New CDX
New CDX plywood was installed wherever damaged decking had been removed. These repairs restored a solid, even foundation for the waterproofing materials and shingles that would follow.
Adding the First Layers of Protection
With the decking repairs complete, the plywood seams were taped and ice and water shield was installed along vulnerable areas of the roof. These materials provide an additional layer of protection beneath the finished shingles.
Ready for Shingles
Synthetic underlayment was installed across the remaining exposed decking, while new drip edge and rake metal helped complete the roof perimeter. Starter shingles were also laid out as the crew prepared to begin the next stage of installation.
Installing Driftshake
IKO Dynasty shingles in Driftshake began transforming Joseph and Helen's roof. The warm, dimensional shingle color gives the home a clean new appearance while completing the primary protective layer of the roofing system.
A New Perma-Boot
A Perma-Boot was installed around the plumbing vent penetration to provide updated protection at this vulnerable area of the roof. Properly sealing roof penetrations helps keep water from finding a path into the roofing system.
Ventilation at the Ridge
A ridge vent was incorporated along the peak of the new roof. Working with adequate intake ventilation, the ridge vent provides an exit point for warm, humid air from the attic while maintaining a streamlined appearance along the roofline.
Installing New Chimney Flashing
New metal flashing was installed where the chimney meets the roof and carefully sealed around the transition. This detail helps create a watertight connection at an area especially vulnerable to water intrusion.
A Clean Finish Around the Chimney
With the new flashing complete, the chimney-to-roof transition has a clean, finished appearance. The new metalwork provides updated protection while integrating neatly with the surrounding Driftshake shingles.
A Fresh Roof From Above
From above, the completed roof showcases the finished Driftshake shingles across the entire home. The aerial view also highlights the clean rooflines and careful finishing details throughout the new roofing system.
A Beautiful Bethel Home, Refreshed
From the front of the property, Joseph and Helen's newly completed roof gives their home a fresh, polished appearance. IKO Dynasty shingles in Driftshake complement the home beautifully while the improvements underneath provide renewed protection from the decking up. With their roofing project complete, Joseph and Helen can enjoy their refreshed Bethel home with confidence for years to come. Brown Won't Let You Down!
