Before the Work Begins
Roof Inspector Geoffrey and General Manager Dennis inspected this complex cedar roof to understand every roof section, chimney, skylight, and flat-roof tie-in before production began.
Old Cedar Roofing
The original cedar shake roofing showed age and wear. Removing it allowed the crew to inspect the roof deck instead of covering old problems.
The Roof Opened for Inspection
Once the old materials were removed, the crew could check the condition of the wood underneath and make repairs before installing the new system.
Flat Roof
Weathered flat and leaking roof was ready for an upgrade
Tear-Off With Property Protection
Before the new roof could go on, the crew removed the old roofing while using tarps to help protect landscaping, walkways, and the home below.
Fresh Plywood Installed
New plywood decking was installed where needed, giving the roof system a stronger base before underlayment, flashing, and shingles were added.
New Decking Creates a Strong Start
After tear-off, damaged or weak decking was replaced so the new IKO Dynasty Shadow Brown shingle system would have a solid surface underneath.
Protection at the Eaves
Brown Roofing installed protective ice & water shield along the lower roof edges, where water, snow, and ice are most likely to try sneaking under the shingles.
Detail Work Around Flat Roof Tie-Ins
The crew carefully sealed the flat roof edges and nearby shingle transitions so both roofing systems work together as one protective shield.
Two Roof Systems Working Together
The flat roof sections were sealed with a durable membrane system designed to handle low-slope areas where shingles are not the right solution.
Flat Roof Final Detail
The finished flat roof membrane creates a clean, watertight surface around the skylight, where proper sealing is especially important.
Finished Transition Area
he new shingles were installed tightly around roof transitions to help move water off the roof instead of letting it collect in vulnerable corners.
Chimney Flashing Done Right
New copper flashing was installed around the chimney to help direct water away from the masonry and protect one of the roof's most leak-prone areas.
IKO Dynasty Shadow Brown Finished Look
The new Shadow Brown shingles give the home a clean, natural finish while adding stronger weather protection across the main roof sections.
Shingles, Flat Roofs, and Skylights
Brown Roofing paid close attention to the areas around skylights and flat roof tie-ins because these are common places for leaks when not detailed properly.
Complex Roof
From above, you can see why this project required detailed planning by Production Manager Noel and Production Manager Bill. Every section had to drain correctly.
