Before: Rough and Missing
A closer look at this roof reveals worn, damaged, and even missing shingles-clear signs it's time for a replacement. Let's get started on giving this home the strong new roof it needs!

The Teardown Begins
The crew kicks things off by stripping all of the old shingles off of the roof. Before they begin, they lay out and hang up large tarps all around the houses to catch falling debris as well as ensure thorough protection of the entire property from potential damage.

The Decking Is Exposed
Underneath the old shingles is a layer of plywood called the roof decking. This is the structural foundation of the roof.

New Plywood Is Installed
As the structural foundation of the roof, the health of the decking is essential. Any parts of the decking found with damage, like rot, decay, or mold, are promptly removed and replaced with strong new CDX plywood to ensure a solid base for the new shingles.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Installed
Next, all plywood seams are sealed with heavy-duty Sealoron XT deck tape to create a watertight surface. Then, a layer of underlayment is installed to protect the decking from harsh elements like rain, wind, snow, and ice. Along the eaves, an ice-and-water shield membrane is securely applied for the first six feet, followed by synthetic Velora One underlayment over the rest of the roof for complete coverage and protection.

Drip Edge Flashing Is Installed
Once all of the underlayment is in place, drip edge flashing is installed along the perimeter of the roof. This thin metal strip acts as a barrier to keep water from sneaking beneath the shingles and fascia, instead guiding it safely into the gutters. It's carefully nailed into place and sealed with heavy-duty Sealoron XT deck tape for extra protection.

New Shingles Are Installed
Now it's time for the new shingles! Brown Roofing proudly offers a 50-year warranty on all roofs featuring our premium-laminated IKO Dynasty architectural shingles. For their new roofs, Colin and Cheryl chose the sleek Brownstone color-a perfect match to enhance the look of their homes.

The Finishing Touches
The final touches are added, including ridge vents to promote proper airflow and prevent condensation buildup. A ridge cap tops it all off for a clean, finished look. To complete the upgrade, a brand-new VELUX skylight replaces the old one, adding both modern style and natural light to Colin and Cheryl's home.

The Roofs After
After a few finishing touches and a spotless cleanup of the entire property, Colin and Cheryl's brand-new roofs are officially complete and looking fabulous!
