Before & After

Beautiful new roof on this home in Derby, CT

This home’s roof was in bad shape and needed to be replaced. From the surface, this home seemed to need new underlayments and shingles but once we took a look in the attic we found mold and rotting wood. This warranted a full roof replacement.

The first step in this process is to rip off the existing shingles and usually inspect the decking layer below but because we knew that it was snake bitten we started to rip up the old rotting plywood, and we were glad we did because the whole underside of these sheets were covered in mold. Once the decking layer was taken care of we, moved on to installing the underlayments. This layer consists of 3 different materials that work together to create a water-tight yet breathable barrier that protects the home.

Lastly, we could install the shingles and flashings, when installing the shingles we always start from the bottom-most edge and work our way up and across the roof to ensure the shingles are layered and staggered correctly. As we work our way up we install flashings around any penetrations in the roof with the correct corresponding material. By the end of the day, this homeowner received a beautiful new roof that will not only keep their family safe and dry but also increase the curb appeal of their home exponentially.
