Brown Roofing - Roofing For Humanity

Brown Roofing in Seymour, CT has a long standing tradition of giving back to the community. From sponsoring Little League teams to assisting families in need, Brown supports the communities that have supported us for over 50 years. As owner Eddie Griffin puts it, "We've made giving back part of our culture". Last year we began our Roofing For Humanity Program to help a family who has supported their community and now needs some assistance of their own.

Last summer, Amy Brady of Newtown lost her husband Richard at the age of 63 after dealing with some health serious issues. For many years Richard had been the main provider for his wife, son and daughter. The loss hit Amy and the children hard. Throughout his lifetime Richard had always given back to the community as a member of the Newtown Volunteer Fire Department and Botsford Fire Rescue where he served as a Chief. He was a founding member of the Newtown Underwater Search and Rescue Team and a member of the Stepney Baptist Church of Monroe where he served as a Deacon and was active in Music Ministry. He gave his time not only to his family but the people around him as well. Amy and the children understood Richard's passion for the community and backed him in his efforts. Service to the community is a family affair.

Recently, Amy took her elderly mother in and now provides care and a home for her as well. Unfortunately, the house is in need of a roof and economic uncertainty has made it difficult to furnish the home with the safety and security of a new roof. Amy’s story had been brought to the attention of Brown Roofing and owner Eddie Griffin.

We are happy to announce, Amy Brady and her family have been chosen as the recipients of this year’s Roofing for Humanity Program. It is our pleasure to provide a new roof to the Brady family to alleviate one burden and honor Richard for his years of service to the community.
