Before: Front View
Here's what the front of the church roof looked like before we began the renovation. Click through to see the incredible transformation!

Before: Mossy North Side
This angle shows how dark the north-facing roof has become from algae growth. Moss thrives on the north side thanks to the shade and constant moisture - an ideal environment for these clingy invaders.

Before: Shingles Falling Off
In this shot, you can see shingles starting to fall off. Time to replace them with new, stronger, and properly secured shingles as part of a complete roof upgrade.

The Teardown Begins
The crew begins by carefully stripping off all the old shingles. Before they start, large protective tarps are hung around the roof's perimeter to shield the property from falling debris and make cleanup faster and easier.

The Sheathing Is Exposed
Beneath the old shingles lies the sheathing: the structural plywood foundation of the roof. The crew inspects this layer closely for any signs of damage, such as rot or mold.

Ice & Water Shield Is Installed
Ice and water shield membrane is installed from the eaves up six feet to provide superior protection against the elements: rain, snow, wind, and ice included.

Underlayment Is Installed
The remaining surface is covered with Velora One synthetic underlayment to create a durable, weather-resistant base for the new roofing system.

Dormer Roof Is Installed
This small roof structure over the front door is called a dormer. Just like the main roof, it's fully prepped with ice and water shield to get it ready for new shingles.

New Shingles Are Installed
Now it's time for the new shingles! The parish selected IKO Dynasty shingles in Granite Black; a beautiful, bold shade that perfectly complements the church's red brick exterior and white accents. These shingles are proudly backed by Brown Roofing's 50-year warranty.

After: The Finished Roof
With a few finishing touches and a thorough cleanup of the property, St. Bernard Church is looking spotless and strong - ready to protect its congregation for many years to come!
