The Roof Before
Here is a look at Fran's roof from the front before the transformation. Swipe through to see the gorgeous transformation!

Before: Three Tab Shingles
A closer look reveals the roof's aging three-tab shingles. Once a popular choice, they are now showing their age. These lighter shingles don't hold up as well against harsh weather compared to today's heavier, more durable options. It's time to swap them out for something stronger and longer-lasting!

The Teardown Begins
The crew kicks things off by carefully stripping all of the old shingles off of the roof. Before they begin the teardown, they hang up large tarps around the edges of the roof to catch the falling debris as well as to ensure full protection of the homeowner's property from potential damage.

New Plywood Is Installed
Underneath the old shingles is a layer of plywood called the sheathing. This is the structural foundation of the roof, and as such, must be in tip-top condition before the new roofing system can be installed. Any sheets of plywood found with damage, such as rot or mold, are removed and replaced with brand-new sturdy half-inch CDX plywood. Each sheet used is numbered for easy tracking so that the crew can accurately report back to the homeowner exactly how many new sheets were installed.

Seams Are Taped & Underlayment Is Installed
The ice and water shield membrane is installed from the eaves up six feet to fully protect this area from damage from harsh elements and ice damming in the winter. The rest of the sheets are taped at the seams with Sealoron XT deck tape as per building codes. After that, Velora One synthetic underlayment is installed over the rest of the surface to ensure an incredibly water-resistant base.

New Shingles Are Installed
Now it's time to install the new shingles! For her new roof, Fran has selected the sleek shade of Shadow Brown from our premium-laminated IKO Dynasty collection to beautifully complement the rest of her home exterior. These Impact 3-rated shingles are proudly backed by Brown Roofing's 50-year warranty.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
A ridge vent is installed along the highest point of the roof, ensuring proper airflow by allowing hot, humid air to escape, cutting down on damaging condensation buildup within the attic.

The Roof After
After a few finishing touches and a thorough tidying up of the property, Fran's roof is officially complete and looking phenomenal!
