Before: Back View
The beautiful trees in Leonara's backyard unfortunately created the perfect environment for moisture to linger on her roof, leading to significant moss growth and shingle deterioration. Now, it's out with the old and in with a brand-new, durable roof!

Preparing for the Teardown
Before the crew starts stripping the old shingles off of the roof, they hang up large tarps all around the edges of the roof to catch falling debris as well as ensure that the homeowner's property is fully protected from any potential damage.

The Sheathing Is Exposed
Underneath the old shingles is a layer of plywood called the sheathing. This is the structural foundation of the roof. Once the teardown is finished, the crew will closely inspect the sheathing for any damage, such as rot, decay, or mold.

Bad Plywood Is Removed
Any areas found with damage are removed by our experts.

New Plywood Is Installed
Strudy new half-inch CDX plywood is installed, precisely made sure to fit and securely nailed down into place, ensuring a strong and solid base for the new roof.

Seams Are Taped and Ice-and-Water Shield Is Installed
Each sheet of plywood used is numbered so that the crew can keep track and accurately report back to the homeowner exactly how many sheets were used. After that, the crew starts taping up all of the seams of the plywood sheets with all-weather Sealoron XT deck tape in order to meet current building codes. In addition, an ice-and-water shield membrane is adhered to the sheathing from the eaves to six feet up, protecting the plywood from harsh elements like rain, snow, and ice dams.

Underlayment is Completed and Drip Edge Is Installed
Ice-and-water shield is also adhered all around the skylights to maximize protecting against leaks. NovaSeal ULTRA synthetic underlayment is then installed over all of the rest of the surface. A drip edge and rake metal flashing is installed over the edges of the roof to protect the fascia and direct water runoff into the gutters.

New Shingles Are Installed
Now it's time to install the new shingles! To beautifully complement her brown-sided home, Leanora has selected the sleek shade of Shadow Brown from our IKO Dynasty collection. These premium-laminated, architectural asphalt shingles are a trustworthy part of Brown Roofing's 50-year warranty.

Ridge Vent Is Installed
A ridge vent is installed along all of the ridges of the roof. This vent allows for proper air circulation by allowing hot, humid air that rises from inside of the house a way to escape, eliminating damaging condensation buildup.

New Skylights Shine Bright
Three new beautiful VELUX skylights are installed to replace Leanora's old ones, guaranteeing a brighter future for the interior of her home!

New Flashing for the Chimney
Leaks often occur where the chimney meets the roof, so the crew carefully installs durable metal flashing at the junction to ensure a watertight seal.

The Finished Look
After a few finishing touches like securing flashing around all of the pipe boots and topping the ridge vent off with a ridge cap for a polished finish, Leanora's roof is officially complete and looking stunning!
