The Roof Before
Here is what the roof looked like before the renovation. Click through to see the results of the beautiful transformation!

The Teardown Begins
The crew kicks things off by carefully tearing off all of the old shingles. Before they begin, large tarps are hung up around the edges of the roof in order to ensure that the property is fully protected from falling debris as well as make for a more efficient cleanup process.

The Sheathing Is Exposed
Underneath the old shingles is a layer of plywood called the sheathing. This is the structural foundation of the roof.

New Plywood Is Installed
The crew found that all of Bounnhasy's sheathing showed signs of damage. In order to secure a strong, solid base for the new shingles, all of the old sheathing is removed and replaced with healthy, durable new 1/2" CDX plywood.

A Brand New Sheathing
Each new sheet of plywood installed is numbered for easy tracking, so that the crew can accurately report back to the homeowner exactly how many sheets were installed.

Underlayment Is Installed
Up next, a layer of underlayment is installed over the entire surface. This is a thin, waterproof membrane that protects the sheathing from harsh elements that could potentially cause moisture damage, like rain, snow, or hail.

Ready for New Shingles
Drip edge flashing is installed around all of the edges of the roof. This is a thin metal barrier that prevents water from seeping through the edge of the roof, instead channelling it towards the gutters. Now we're ready to put on the new shingles!

New Shingles Are Installed
For his new roof, Bounnhasy has selected the gorgeous shade of Cornerstone from our premium-laminated IKO Dynasty collection to perfectly complement his home. These heavyweight, architectural shingles are proudly backed by Brown Roofing's 50-year warranty!

New Flashing Is Installed on the Chimney
Strong new flashing is adhered to the chimney where it meets the roof. Like the drip edge flashing, this thin metal prevents water from seeping through what would otherwise be a vulnerable junction.

The Roof After
With a few final touches, the new roof is officially complete, looking beautiful, and ready to stand strong for years to come!
