The Worn Shingles were Covered in Lichen
This photo shows the old roof before the Brown Roofing team replaced it. These old shingles were outdated, and covered in lichen. If ignored, lichen growth can cause shingles to warp or break.
Shingle Removal
The first step of any roof replacement is removing the shingles. Our crew used long tarps attached to the roof to slide the shingles off of the roof. This method makes it easier to haul the debris off of the property, and prevent a mess. The long tarp covers the face of the home, protecting it from any falling debris.
Inspecting the Wood Decking
Once all of the shingles have been removed, our crew takes a look at the wood decking for any damage. Any damaged wood is replaced with new plywood. This process allows our team to make sure the customer's new roof is safe.
Installing Underlayment
Next, our crew protects the new roof from the elements by installing underlayment. Ice and Water Shield and Velora One underlayment is applied all over the wood decking. This method keeps water away from the wood, preventing serious problems such as wood rot, leaks, and holes.
Laying the Shingles
This photo shows one of our crew members installing brand new IKO Dynasty shingles onto the new roof. These new shingles have excellent strength, and build in algae protection. These qualities make this new roof durable and beautiful.
The Finished Product
Beautiful IKO Dynasty shingles in the color Cornerstone make this new roof look incredible! The complete roof includes a new ridge vent. This vent will help prevent condensation and mold in this home's attic.
